How Clean Energy Can Improve These 3 Health Issues

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY CHOICES GO A LONG WAY FOR OUR BODIES, AS WELL AS OUR SHARED PLANET.

It is common knowledge that the use of fossil fuels is a threat to our planet on a grand scale, but did you know that it also has immediate implications on our health? The burning of fossil fuels, such as gas or coal, create tremendous quantities of air pollution, which has been found to cause 100,000 premature deaths annually in the US.

Switching to clean energy would reduce the threat of air pollution, thereby minimizing these critical health issues:

  1. Respiratory Inflammation and Infection: The most obvious health issue that would be improved is respiratory illness, which most notably frequently occur in areas with a high concentration of air pollution. Breathing in the pollutants inflames the respiratory system and lowers its immunity defenses. People of color and those of low socioeconomic status are disproportionately exposed to pollution, and the effects are particularly harmful to the young and elderly.
  2.  Cardiovascular Disease: The air we breathe doesn’t only impact the respiratory system, but our entire bodies. Those who are already impacted by cardiovascular issues and are exposed to air pollution can experience inflammation of the heart and are at an increased risk of developing cardiovascular disease.
  3. Neurological Impairments: Air pollution can have a detrimental effect on our brain health as well. In large quantities, certain pollutants negatively impact the nervous system, leading to memory, speech, and mobility issues.

The need to go green has never been more critical. If we make these changes today, not only will our planet live longer, but we as humans will live longer and better lives. Solar energy is an obvious solution, especially as the cost of renewable energy continues to decline. Government rebates and incentives also translate to deep discounts for both home and business owners
