New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced yesterday that $108 million will be added to the NY-Sun Initiative over the next two years. The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) now has $216 million to fund residential and commercial solar projects.
“Solar power is critical to making our environment healthier and our energy system more resilient,” said Gov. Cuomo. “The funding approved today will expand the use of clean, renewable power across New York State and ensure we continue to be a national leader in solar energy.”
EmPower Solar lauds Gov. Cuomo’s actions and is both appreciative and emphatic that he continues to embrace solar energy and other renewable energy sources. He is a political pioneer for this industry, recognizing the environmental and economic benefits of solar project funding.
This additional $108 million will help hundreds of families and businesses reduce electric bills while contributing a cleaner, healthier, and more prosperous world.
