Ever hear how “it’s always better when we’re together”? Well, the same can go for solar! EmPower Solar offers Employee/Member Solar Incentive Programs (ESIPs) for homeowners to receive a group discount for going solar. Current Solar Incentive Program participants include the Long Island Association, Stony Brook University, Intelligent Product Systems (IPS), and recently, Citizens Campaign for the Environment.
Citizens Campaign for the Environment (CCE) is a nonprofit organization that works to build widespread citizen understanding and advocacy for policies and actions designed to manage and protect our natural resources and public health. Their goal is to empower communities and advocate for solutions, so empowering their members with discount on an energy solution seemed like a perfect fit.
EmPower Solar created an ESIP with CCE to offer its members, staff, friends, family members, and supporters a group discount on solar. For CCE’s ESIP, homeowners can receive up to $1,000 off a home solar installation, and EmPower Solar will donate $300 back to CCE.
CCE has long been a champion of renewable policy and legislation in our region. The organization supports a multitude of renewable energy initiatives, and advocated for a year and a half to successfully bring on-bill financing to all New Yorker’s. In a region where consumers pay some of the highest rates in the country, this can save tens of thousands of dollars over the life of each solar system while preventing millions of pounds of harmful greenhouse gas emissions.
As part of CCE’s ESIP, EmPower Solar connected with members via webinars, presentations, and even an office visit to speak with employees about the benefits of solar. While many homeowners had heard about solar programs, it was helpful for them to ask questions and speak with solar professionals.
Tara Bono – EmPower Solar’s Marketing Manager and a CCE supporter – was happy to speak with CCE: “It’s always easy to speak to the choir. Everyone involved with CCE understands the environmental benefits of switching away from fossil fuels. Now with the discount and on-bill financing, we’re able to provide them with an easy way to do that. It was clear that everyone really wanted to proactively support clean energy and take control of their electric bill. We talked about all the different ways homeowners can go solar at their homes, and the benefits they’d see no matter which way they went solar.”
Does an ESIP sound like something you’d like to bring to your local business or nonprofit?
